Ironbound Elite is excited to announce that Hockey Director Sam Cheema will be overseeing both the youngest and oldest players in our organization for the indefinite future.

Sam joined Ironbound in September of 2019 and in a short span he has successfully promoted 18 players to NCAA hockey. Sam has implemented a focus and structure of player development and worked to provide more opportunities for female athletes.
Sam will head coach our Premier 19U team whilst also undertaking a new five-year goal – 2008 Head Coach. “There are girls who are 2007/08/09 who aspire to play in the Olympics. We should be the ones pushing and encouraging this. These players need stability, support, and the very best in coaching to achieve this. In New Jersey, there are only 8 players playing NCAA D1 this season. This is a number that has me asking a lot of questions – we want our players to achieve the highest levels, get a great education and fulfill their dreams. I am committed to the next five years – doing the right things for the players and making sure they are on the right pathway to play division 1 hockey”.

Sam will be on the ice with every team during practice, teaching skills to all our players whilst also overseeing the individual player development. Sam also advises guides and places athletes into colleges – working primarily with players when they are in their Junior and Senior years.
Sam is a proven coach working with athletes from NHL, AHL, ECHL, USHL NCAA D1, and the majority of AAA programs in the area. Sam has worked alongside NCAA schools and also works with coaches from over 20 schools every year in Sweden, Denmark, and Florida. His expertise is utilized by players from Boston University, Northeastern, Holy Cross, Yale, Princeton, Colorado College, St Lawrence University, Harvard, Colgate, Boston College to name a few.
